The Missing Delivery

Jocelyn orders a new lamp for her living room. The app says it arrives on Tuesday. She waits at home all afternoon.

At five o'clock, the app shows one word: "Delivered." Jocelyn checks her front porch right away. There is no box anywhere.

She looks under the porch bench. She checks behind the plants. She does not see the box.

Jocelyn calls the delivery company right away. A worker checks the tracking number. "It shows a photo of your porch," he says.

He sends the photo to her phone. Jocelyn looks at it closely. It shows a different porch with a red door.

Her own door is blue, not red. She thinks about the houses on her street. Her neighbor Emil has a red door.

Jocelyn walks next door quickly. She knocks on Emil's door twice. "Did you get a package today?" she asks.

Emil looks confused for a second. He checks his own porch outside. A box sits by his mat.

"I did not see this before," Emil says. "The driver left it at the wrong house," Jocelyn explains.

Emil carries the box over to her. "I am sorry about that," he says. "It happens sometimes," Jocelyn answers.

She carries the box inside her house. She opens it and finds her lamp. It is safe and not broken.

Jocelyn sets the lamp on her table. She plugs it in and turns it on. Warm light fills the room.
