The Missing Suitcase

Paloma's suitcase does not arrive at baggage claim, and an airline worker helps track down where it went.
Paloma stands at the baggage belt for a long time. Bags go around and around. Her suitcase does not come. She checks the number on her ticket again. Her suitcase is red with a yellow strap. No red suitcase comes out on the belt. Paloma walks to the airline desk near the exit. A worker named Jamal looks up and smiles. "My suitcase is not here," Paloma says. "Don't worry, we can check the system," Jamal says. He types her flight number into the computer. "Your bag left on a different flight," Jamal says. "To the wrong city?" Paloma asks. "Yes, a mix-up at the last airport," Jamal says. He writes down her address and phone number. "Your suitcase goes to your hotel today," he says. Paloma waits at her hotel the next morning. A van stops outside with a delivery driver. The driver carries a red suitcase with a yellow strap. "Is this yours?" the driver asks. "Yes! Thank you very much," Paloma says. She opens the suitcase and checks her things. Everything is still inside, safe and dry. Paloma calls the airline desk to say thank you. Jamal answers the phone and laughs. She carries the suitcase to her room and unpacks.
