The Boy Who Cried Wolf

A bored shepherd boy amuses himself by tricking the village into thinking a wolf is attacking his flock — until a real wolf finally shows up.
A Shepherd Boy tended his master's sheep near a dark forest not far from the village.
一个牧羊少年在村子附近一片幽暗森林边为主人放羊。
Soon he found life in the pasture very dull. All he could do to amuse himself was to talk to his dog or play on his shepherd's pipe.
不久他就觉得牧场里的生活十分乏味。他唯一能做的消遣就是跟他的狗说话，或者吹吹他的牧笛。
One day he thought of a plan that would give him a little excitement. He ran toward the village shouting, "Wolf! Wolf!"
一天，他想出一个能给自己带来点刺激的主意。他跑向村子，大声喊道：“狼来了！狼来了！”
The villagers came running with clubs to chase the wolf away. But when they arrived, they found the Boy laughing at them. There was no wolf at all.
村民们拿着棍棒跑来赶狼。可是他们赶到时，却发现这个男孩在嘲笑他们。根本没有狼。
A few days later the Shepherd Boy tricked the villagers again, and again they ran to help him, only to be laughed at once more.
几天后，牧羊少年又骗了村民一次，他们又跑来帮他，结果又被他嘲笑了一番。
Then, one evening, a wolf really did come out from the forest. In terror the Boy ran toward the village shouting, "Wolf! Wolf!" But the villagers thought he was tricking them again, and nobody came to help.
后来，一天傍晚，森林里真的跑出一只狼来。男孩惊恐万分，跑向村子喊道：“狼来了！狼来了！”可是村民们以为他又在捉弄他们，谁也没有来帮忙。
The wolf made a fine meal of the Boy's flock, and the Boy cried all the way home.
狼美美地饱餐了一顿男孩的羊群，男孩一路哭着回家去了。
Nobody believes a liar, even when he is telling the truth.
没有人会相信一个说谎者，即使他说的是真话。
